Shelter Bay welcomes the DIY boater: an extensive area dedicated to self-help projects. Our new storage building will complement the DIY area providing covered workspace with benches and nearby power points (as well as storage for your materials and boat parts).
To make your stay in the yard more comfortable (and secure) we have an special area for metal vessels and another for spray-painting projects.
Water and power are available at many service points within the self-help area. Scaffolding is available for rent.
Living aboard is permitted, within the work area. We do charge a live-aboard fee in this self-work (and work) area for those choosing to stay onboard.
You may combine your self-help project with our Marina services or you can employ others (contractors) to perform work in the DIY area. All contractors must be vetted by the marina (all those not forming part of the officially registered crew, and not employed through the marina) and pay a daily access fee. These procedures are to help protect against irresponsible contractors and to cover additional liabilities.
